For several days, the ball of activists and photographers in front of the premises of the CEI has become daily. A few days before the filing deadline, six files have already been submitted. Thursday, August 27 in the afternoon, Henri Konan Bédié, president of the PDCI [Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire] came to present his candidacy in person.

This candidacy, I entrust it to the Ivorian people ," he said. This candidacy will allow us to rebuild a Côte d'Ivoire reconciled with itself, a Côte d'Ivoire of peace, tolerance, dialogue and development.  "

Rally for a peaceful Ivory Coast

Earlier in the morning, another figure in the Ivorian political scene, Pascal Affi N'Guessan, of the FPI [Ivorian Popular Front], came to submit his case. A more discreet procedure. The man took the opportunity to slip a word to the heads of the institution.

We know how many times the country has suffered from elections which did not meet the expectations of many of our compatriots and which led to serious conflicts ," he said. It is therefore to say that your responsibility is great. That is why we are counting on you to make these elections truly transparent.  "

The two candidates called for a rally for a peaceful Côte d'Ivoire. The day after Laurent Gbagbo's final deletion from the electoral lists, his former ally Pascal Affi N'Guessan also confided that his first measure, if he is elected, would be to authorize the return of the former president to the Côte d'Ivoire to seal national reconciliation.
