One and a half million have listened to the IVA nurse Eveline Jacobson's summer talk on Swedish radio P1, where she told about her everyday life during the corona pandemic. She directed harsh words at anyone who did not follow the Public Health Agency's recommendations: "Damn it," she said.

Amelia Adamo, 73, has long worked to raise the status of the elderly in society and therefore thinks it is unfortunate that everyone over 70 has been lumped together into a risk group, regardless of general health. She has now started meeting her grandchildren without keeping her distance.

- I considered that I had a herd immunity in my herd. Then there is also a need in your generation that we, grandparents, should help. And half a year, as it has been, is quite a long time, she says to the host Belinda Olsson in Sweden meet: Directly.

“Is there reason to be more flexible”

The decision to define everyone over 70 as a risk group was right from the start, with the knowledge that existed then, says Jan Albert, chief physician and professor.

- But now I think we have a different situation and there is every reason to be more flexible, he says.

Ingmar Skoog, a senior researcher who is also a professor and chief physician, agrees. He thinks that the current restrictions express an old-fashioned view of the elderly:

- We know that the elderly are very different. We become more and more different the older we get, he says in the program.

"We do not stand"

Eveline Jacobson emphasizes the importance of adhering to the existing recommendations.

- That is my biggest fear: That you think that now it's over. I also want to hug my grandma and grandma, but right now it's not working. We have to do this for something bigger, she says.

- If there is another wave, it is the biggest fear. I think I have all the healthcare staff behind me when I say that we do not support it. Our lives are disappearing too.
