Earlier, the Latvian government approved the imposition of sanctions against 30 officials of Belarus for "falsifying the results of the presidential election" and the use of violence against protesters.

Also, the head of the European Council Charles Michel announced EU sanctions against a number of people in Belarus. It was reported that the European Union will also study the possibility of introducing restrictive measures against the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
