Abu Dhabi Pensions: Female citizens are more likely to join the labor market than men in 2020

The Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund stated that the total number of female citizens working in the public and private sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as of last July, reached 40,717 women, representing 45% of the percentage of insured employees in the emirate, pointing out that the labor market in Abu Dhabi witnessed the accession of 1,151 female citizens During the period from January to last July, which constitutes 55% of the percentage of those enrolled in work during the same period of the year.

The Fund stated that women now constitute 45% of the national workforce in the emirate, after it did not exceed 11% of the workforce in 2000 when the Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund was established, while the total of female retired citizens in the emirate reached 2599, which represents 21% of Total retirees registered with the Fund, noting that the average retirement age for women was 46 years, compared to 55 years for the average retirement age for men.

The fund stated that the most important reasons for retirement for female citizens are under the name of "a married woman with children", as Law No. 2 of 2000 in the matter of civil retirement pensions and benefits for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi allows her to retire after 15 years of service or 10 years if she reaches the age of 50 years. He considered that the increasing number of working women is a reflection of the path of empowering Emirati women and their participation in the development process.

The Fund confirmed that the empowerment of Emirati women in the labor market is the fruit of the wise leadership's support for them, especially since the late Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, believed that women had a role no less important than the role of men, which paved the way for them to enter all Al-Mayadeen, so Emirati women occupy many positions and work in many fields that were the preserve of men.

The fund indicated that Emirati women are now partners in all sectors of work in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as 40% of women work in the government sector, while 5% work in the private sector, and the average years of service for female citizens working in Abu Dhabi is 8 years, compared to 9 years for a man, as the Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund database attests that Emirati women are unparalleled in giving, and they stand next to men hand in hand to build the nation and have not hesitated to continue working for many years in the service of the nation.

For his part, the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund, Khalaf Abdullah Rahma Al Hammadi, confirmed that the efforts of the wise leadership were the main reason for the empowerment of Emirati women in the labor market and achieving equality between them and men in all fields, pointing out that the statistics related to citizens registered in The retirement system in Abu Dhabi reflects a remarkable development in the number of working women who join the emirate’s labor market every year, which confirms the significant contribution of Emirati women in all work sectors.

Al Hammadi said: “The continuous increase in the number of women in the labor market, in addition to the long years of service recorded by Emirati women in the work sectors, is evidence of the quality, proportionality and components of the work environment in the emirate with the requirements and needs of women, in a way that helps them combine their work tasks with their family responsibilities. Things that would not have happened had it not been for the tireless efforts of the state leadership in the matter of empowering women in various fields and overcoming the obstacles facing them in order to contribute to advancing the development process in the country.
