According to an Italian news agency ANSA, the yacht was about 50 meters long and caught fire on its way from Capri to Sardinia. The eight tourists and nine crew members on the yacht have left the yacht after the fire broke out, waiting for rescue in a small boat.
Italian coast guard officials said they used two coast guard ships and a helicopter to rescue the 17 people.
