Kenosha in the state of Wisconsin has been shaken by violent protests since the father of three Jacob Blake was shot several times in the back in connection with a police intervention on Sunday.

New unrest broke out during the night until Wednesday, when two people were shot dead on the street where Blake was previously shot. Another person was hit in the shooting, but the injuries should not be life-threatening, according to the New York Times.

In a film clip published on social media, several people seem to be trying to overpower a person with some kind of rifle, which then opens fire. A large number of shots are heard at the same time ringing out in the background and no police are visible.

It is unclear who fired

It is still unclear who fired or who was hit, but according to the New York Times, a riot broke out at a gas station guarded by a group of armed men.

Heavily armed, mainly white men, are said to have been out on the streets on Tuesday to protect property from destruction, according to TT.

On Tuesday, Wisconsin's governor announced a state of emergency and a curfew. At the same time, about 100 National Guard police have been deployed in Kenosha.

Shot with seven shots

29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot several times in the back by a police officer and is being treated with serious injuries at a hospital in Milwaukee. The course of events was captured on film and has in several places triggered a new wave of protests against police violence.

Julia Jackson, mother of Jacob Blake, on Tuesday called for calm and said that the violent protests did not reflect the son's values.

At the same time, the father, Jacob Blake the Elder, accused the police of trying to murder his son.

"They shot my son seven times, as if he meant nothing," he told the New York Times.
