Egypt: Refer all those who defected to vote in the "Senate" elections to the Public Prosecution Office

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Board of Directors of the National Elections Authority held a meeting to discuss the mechanisms of applying the provisions of the Law on Exercising Political Rights on every voter who failed to perform the national duty and cast his vote in the 2020 Senate elections, and the Council concluded with preparing lists of the names of every voter entitled to vote and failed to do so. Right.

The Board of Directors of the National Authority confirmed that the Egyptian state provided all the capabilities and equipment necessary for the departure of voters in order to exercise their political right to vote in the first round of the Senate elections, and the National Elections Authority took all precautionary measures that would protect the parties to the electoral process and voters from the Corona pandemic, and the committees prepared To receive them, and repeatedly warned of the necessity of disembarking, "some" failed to fulfill their national role and duty to participate, which is what the board of directors of the Authority concluded by referring all those who failed to vote by referring it to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary action in this regard.

Thus, the number of those who failed to vote in the elections reached 53 million 981 thousand and 130 people, and by applying Article 57 of the Law on Exercising Political Rights promulgated by No. 45 of 2014 and its amendments, the voter who fails to cast his vote will be punished with a fine not exceeding 500 pounds.
