Sources confirmed to Al-Jazeera Net that the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani will visit the Lebanese capital Beirut today, and during the visit he will meet with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, officials and political parties.

The visit of the Qatari foreign minister is the first visit of a Gulf official to Lebanon after the Beirut port bombing, which occurred on August 4.

Earlier this month, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, announced at the donors ’conference in Paris, his country's contribution of 50 million dollars to help Lebanon. After the explosion, many planes loaded with medical aid were sent.

A number of charities in Qatar launched a relief campaign under the title "Lebanon in our hearts", in solidarity with the victims of the Beirut bombing.
