The Minister of Education, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, began reviewing the educational institutions ’plan in the country to resume studies at the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year, stressing that education will be provided to all students in various academic stages, and the start of studies for all at the scheduled time.

He pointed out that the proactive steps taken by the Ministry in managing the education file, under the directives of the leadership, have resulted in a modern vision based on the importance of the availability of smart elements and solutions that contribute to completing the education process within a safe educational environment without prejudice to the achievement of the distinguished knowledge return for our students, in light of the current exceptional health conditions. .

Al-Hammadi explained that the students ’regularity in education without any problems is a top priority within the efforts made by the work teams in the ministry during the last period, taking into account the provision of a safe and healthy educational environment, and paying attention to the most accurate details of the student’s school day, starting from the period before leaving home And while he was in school, as well as leaving school until he got home.

Al-Hammadi added, "Several scenarios have been developed for the manner and nature of learning in the new academic year, based on the health data presented, measuring the effect of this on the progress of the learning process, and the best educational solutions to be adopted."

He pointed out that «after extensive studies and consultations with the concerned authorities in the state, the opinion has settled on the application of hybrid education for students through a combination of traditional or realistic education within the school, and the distance learning system and smart learning».

He stated that the ministry was keen to involve the guardian in making the appropriate decision and to survey a wide sample of parents about the type of education they see best suited to their children, and accordingly, the space was allowed for them to have the freedom to choose between their children’s attendance in school or distance education for the first semester, provided that The stability of the school community and the flow of learning are evaluated in a timely and continuous manner.

He stated that the Ministry had conducted a realistic simulation of students 'attendance in schools in a proactive manner, to identify all the challenges and opportunities for improvement, prior to the start of the school year, pointing out that the students' attendance will be gradual and in stages within specific time frames, so that the attendance percentage is initially limited to 25%. Then it becomes 50%, and then 75%, and it rises to 100%, under intense follow-up and constant monitoring.

Al-Hammadi explained the mechanism for operating educational facilities during the "Covid-19" pandemic and the general framework of the related protocols and procedures, pointing out that the ministry has prepared a comprehensive document of the requirements of the procedures for operating educational facilities during the pandemic "in Arabic and English", in cooperation with all partners, such as the Ministry of Health and Prevention Community, local health departments and agencies, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, local educational bodies, and others.

He said that the approved health protocols include procedures for entering the educational facility, such as examining "Covid-19", examining temperature, physical distancing, sterilization and disinfection, nutrition, securing transportation services, training and awareness, monitoring and inspection plan, and others, in addition to activating the Ministry of Education operations room. 24 hours.

On the nature of education in higher education institutions, Al-Hammadi emphasized that several meetings were held with specialists in higher education institutions to discuss the plans prepared by them to resume studies and the approved mechanisms to ensure the continuation of the educational process effectively.

He pointed out that the nature of higher education will be a combination of distance education and education on campus, so that the priority of education in universities becomes the distance education system for lectures, and personal attendance is limited to a limited number of cadres and students whose presence in practical and research laboratories, clinical training and exams is required. .

He reviewed the system of various virtual summer activities 2020 launched by the Ministry, which was designed in cooperation with its strategic partners, to give students an ideal opportunity to develop and refine their skills and knowledge, in order to ensure their academic progress and refine their skills in various fields, explaining that it targeted about 137 thousand students of various academic levels in Public and private schools, distributed over 98 activities and training programs, were made available through all their approved smart programs and platforms, and also targeted all community members.
