A few years ago, Robert Danielsson discovered a problem: there are empty desolate houses in the countryside that give the owners a bad conscience or that have too high an affection value to demolish - at the same time there are a bunch of renovators who want to go out into the country and take on a challenge.

- In my Facebook group that I started, I noticed that there are lots of people who are looking for houses but did not know how to find them or how to contact the owners. I wanted to help and we have become like a modern "matchmaker" or "farmer looking for a wife" in a deserted house, he says.

"The most fun adventure"

With the renovation lift during the corona pandemic and the insight into how easy it is to work in the office from home, he now notices an increased interest in the desolate house movement.

What tips do you have for those looking for desolate houses?

- If you are looking for a desolate house, the adventure is the most fun part. Take the bike, go out and ask people for tips. These houses are not available on the internet, not on Hemnet or other sites.

The difficulties can arise once you find a house.

- We try to see the people who are looking for houses in specific areas and then I write letters or call the house owners and unconditionally start talking to them, to find out why it is empty. I also help with inspections to see if the houses can be saved.

He describes today's desolate house hunt and renovation needs as a hysteria - see more in the video.
