It was last week that Gunnebo's IT security department discovered an ongoing intrusion attempt into the company's IT environment. In a press release, the company states that all servers were shut down to limit the attack, which is described as "well organized".

The company has now reported the incident to the Security Police, Säpo.

- We follow the regulations that exist for cybersecurity violations, which means that we must inform if we have been subjected to any form of intrusion attempt. In connection with this, we also report to Säpo, who can look at whether it is an organized business that is behind it, says Åke Bengtsson, CFO of Gunnebo AB to SVT Nyheter.

"Judges that it was organized"

Gunnebo manufactures, among other things, entrance systems to airports, cash handling systems and safes with operations and customers all over the world.

According to Åke Bengtsson, the attack must have been isolated from the company's operations and not affected the customers' systems, according to what is known so far.

- We assess that it was well organized and can state that it has affected our entire business. But since it was discovered quickly, we managed to shut down and isolate the attack to fewer and fewer servers over time. We are now investigating the incident together with external security consultants and trying to find out what the intruders have been looking for, says Åke Bengtsson.

What do you know about the motive?

- We know nothing about that and I can not speculate about it either. We do not have such clarity, he says.

According to Gunnebo AB, the company's operational impact must have been minimal and the business is said to have resumed.
