Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi held a tripartite summit in Amman yesterday.

The Jordanian News Agency (Petra) stated that the summit focused on expanding economic, commercial and investment cooperation between the three countries in a way that achieves their common interests and serves Arab causes.

The summit, which was held in the Royal Pavilion at Queen Alia International Airport, discussed the latest developments in the region, and ways to enhance further coordination and consultation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq on issues of common concern.

King Abdullah II said at the opening of the summit’s work yesterday: “Our meeting today is very important, in light of these exceptional circumstances that the region and the world are witnessing,” adding that “the accelerating events in our region, and the interference of some external parties, require close coordination and joint action.”

The Jordanian monarch affirmed that the Palestinian issue "is still the central issue in the region, and we are constantly with the two-state solution that ends the Israeli occupation and leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines."

He pointed out that "the issue of food security, which will be the biggest challenge in 2021, calls for uniting our efforts and thinking of solutions outside the box."

He added, "I am pleased that you are with us to consult, coordinate and cooperate with us in the coming months on all issues that concern us all."

King Abdullah stressed, during two separate meetings with Sisi and Kazemi, prior to the summit, the need to achieve "a comprehensive and just peace based on the two-state solution", which "guarantees the establishment of an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital." ».

The meeting of the Jordanian monarch with the Egyptian President dealt with bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue. The two leaders also discussed mechanisms of cooperation and coordination aimed at curbing the spread of the Corona epidemic.
