- I can only guess that everyone involved is very unhappy and thinks it was a difficult event, says Helen Hönqvist who is involved in Östersund's working dog club regarding what happened to Anitha Strömberg.

Is it common for such attacks to occur?

- No, I have hardly heard of it, so no it is not, says Helen Hörnqvist.

However, other things can happen when dogs are released.

- A dog is an animal that has different characteristics and instincts and they sometimes react very quickly, says Helen Hörnqvist.

There are different regulations

There are different rules regarding stray dogs. During the period 1 March to 20 August, you must have extra supervision of the dog as wild animals and birds must be protected.

In addition, each municipality has local regulations on where and when you may have a dog loose.

- My advice is to really check out what applies where you live, says Helen Hörnqvist.

She points out that local dog clubs and associations can help one with that information.

Meets stray dogs

Helen Hörnqvist has a dog herself but has almost never solved it. However, she herself sometimes encounters stray dogs.

What do you think then?

- I hope that the person who has it loose has such good control that it comes when the owner calls it so it does not cause anything, neither to itself nor to another.

Many people may want to let go of their dog so that it can get exercise and be activated. But Helen Hörnqvist points out that there is a lot you can do with your dog without it having to be loose.
