The German government believes that it is "quite probable" that the Russian opponent Alexei Navalny, hospitalized in a coma in Berlin, has been the victim of poisoning, as declared this Monday by a spokesman for the Executive.

"He is a patient who has quite likely been the victim of an attack with poison," Steffen Seibert told the press, thus justifying the police protection deployed at the Charité hospital where Navalny has been admitted since Saturday.

The well-known opponent was transferred from Russia where his life, his family says, "is in danger." According to his surroundings, last Thursday Navalny was poisoned when he was drinking tea (mixed with an unknown toxic substance) at an airport. Since then, he is torn between life and death.
