The popular television presenter and journalist Larry King has lost two of his five children in a period of three weeks and, after confirming the news on social networks this Sunday, has asked for privacy to overcome these losses.

"It is with sadness and the broken heart of a father that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King and Chaia King. They were both good and kind souls and we will miss them very much," King, 86, said Sunday. in this way he spoke for the first time about a news item that had circulated in the media.

The veteran CNN presenter indicated that his son Andy, 65, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28 and that his sister Chaia, 51, died on August 20, shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Andy King was adopted by the journalist and his ex-wife, Alene Akins, with whom he had Chaia seven years later, according to local press. "No parent should have to bury a child," he said of the blow he's received.

"My family and I thank you for your kind feelings and good wishes. Right now, we need a little time and privacy to heal," he said in his message.

Reactions were immediate from King's followers, with messages of solidarity and support for the death of their children.

King has another son from his second marriage, named after him, and two college kids, Chance and Cannon, from his last marriage.
