China News Service, August 24. According to Malaysia Sin Chew.com, a few days ago, Malaysia's former Anshun Fujian Association Chairman Chen Kangyi said that in recent years, the proportion of the Malaysian Chinese population has dropped significantly, and the impact has been manifested in all aspects.

He said that in the past, more than 500 students have won prizes for the children’s education awards of the association’s members, with a total award amount of more than 20,000 ringgits, but this year there were only 120, and the total award amount was only more than 5,000 ringgits. Interest-free loans for colleges and universities were only approved to be awarded to one student last year, which is nearly zero.

In his speech at the association's general meeting and board reelection meeting, Chen Kangyi said that the total number of students in the 20 Chinese primary schools in Lower Perak and Batam Datuk is only 3,610; the Chinese population in the country only accounts for 22.6%, an average annual decrease of 0.2%.

He said: “This association provides a bonus for members to encourage them to have more births. Every member who gives birth to a third child can get a bonus of 500 ringgits, but this does not seem to be of much help.”

He said that Malaysia uses votes to determine its political power, and the decline in the proportion of the Chinese population may trigger an equity crisis.
