A 29-year-old citizen was seriously injured when his vehicle veered off course and collided with a metal barrier on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Umm Al Quwain, near Exit 90.

The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the General Command of Umm Al Quwain Police, Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Aran, said that the operations room received a report at 10:20 am yesterday, stating that a vehicle deviated and hit an iron barrier on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Immediately, police patrols and national ambulances moved to the site of the accident.

He added, "The patrols found that the vehicle had collided with the side iron barrier, which led to the driver being seriously injured, and he was transported by air ambulance to Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and a report of the incident was drawn up to determine the cause of the accident."

Bin Aran called on road users to adhere to speed limits, use seat belts for the driver and passengers, and not be distracted by other than the road, to avoid traffic accidents.
