During the discussion of the draft law on the biosafety of genetically modified organisms and their products, which it approved in its fourth session of the first session of the seventeenth legislative chapter, which was held on February 11, 2020, the Council stressed the importance of this law in preserving human health, local genetic resources and biological diversity and ensuring control Reducing, eliminating or remedying damages that occur or are likely to occur, and ensuring the protection of the environment in the field of development, manufacture, production, transfer or circulation of genetically modified organisms or their products arising from modern biotechnology.

The provisions of this law shall apply to the import, export, re-export, transit, circulation, development, manufacture, production, and transportation of genetically modified organisms or their products, and other products containing or compounding them, with a percentage equal to or more than 0.9% of the genetically modified component, and the Council of Ministers may issue a decision to amend this percentage.
