Parents of students in private schools in Dubai informed Al-Emarat Al-Youm that they do not know the education system that their children's schools will apply in the new academic year, although there are only six days left for the beginning of the school year, according to the school calendar announced by the Ministry of Education and the Authority Knowledge and human development in Dubai.
The authority confirmed that private schools in Dubai have submitted applications to approve the educational system followed during the new academic year, and a number of these requests are still under accreditation, noting that “schools are obligated to notify parents of students of the educational system that they will apply, during the next few days.”
In detail, Ahmed Jalal (the father of two students) said: “The school did not specify the school system that it would apply for the new academic year, although there were only a few days left for the start of the study, and we did not have an opportunity to discuss possible educational scenarios with the school administration.”
He added that delaying the determination of the educational scenario followed would result in families not being able to resolve a number of matters related to the study, including not buying school uniforms, in case the study was remotely, in addition to reserving a seat on the school bus.
“The school asked parents to participate in a questionnaire to choose the educational model, out of four scenarios,” Hana al-Hanafi (the mother of a student) said. However, it did not specify the scenario that it will apply, pointing out that “only days remain for the start of the study, and the education system has not yet been determined, which causes us a state of confusion due to the lack of time to provide the necessary equipment for study, whether by purchasing school tools or determining the means of transportation for the student. To school or others ».
She added that she had received a letter from the school informing her that the new school uniform would not be available before September 15th.
Alya Muhammad (the mother of a student) indicated that the response they receive from the school administration about defining the educational model is "not yet defined," adding that the school justifies this by the fact that the Knowledge and Human Development Authority has not approved the study plan submitted by it, and the plan is expected to be approved within next week.
The authority had allowed private schools in the emirate to choose the most appropriate method for them and their school community to receive their students, provided that they fully adhere to the approved directives and preventive measures. Among these methods are receiving students at the same time, continuing to apply distance learning in part, organizing school hours for students in successive periods (for example, morning and evening shifts), and other creative solutions, by consulting schools with students' parents and teachers.
The authority added that the decision to return to school may be worrying for some parents and students, but schools will adhere to strict health and safety measures to protect students and school staff from infection.
