In the midsummer of western Yunnan, the mountains are undulating and the weather is hot. The sun shines through the thick clouds and spills on the red earth.

Driving from a place in Yunnan by car, the provincial road zigzags forward and stretches to the distant mountains. The hills on both sides of the road overlapped, the trees were shaded, and one or two tactful bird songs were heard from time to time in the forest, which seemed extremely quiet.

I don't know how long it has been driving, the driver suddenly hit the direction, the car bumped and turned into a red dirt road. The car swiftly moved on the bumpy muddy ground, bumping up and down.

The fellow soldiers were very calm: "There is a lot of rain in western Yunnan, and the dirt road in the mountains becomes potholes and muddy when it rains. The squadron we are going to, the soldiers have to experience such bumps every time they enter and leave the camp."

A light green appeared in the distance. I saw green and yellowing field tents, arranged strictly and solemnly.

  "Arrived!"

This is the destination of this trip-the temporary camp area of Mobile No. 1 Squadron, Mobile 3rd Detachment of the Yunnan Armed Police Force, who has been instructed to guard the security of the border for more than 400 days.

"Looking at the camp I built by myself, the training is more vigorous."

Walking into the camp, first talk about the field tent.

“In order to allow officers and soldiers to better adapt to the mission environment in the jungle and mountains, and be able to quickly deal with emergencies, at the beginning of 2019, our squadron chose to be stationed in the wild mountain forest near the border.” said squadron instructor Dai Dongjie, “even though we live in the field. Tent, but the standard for combat readiness remains unchanged and the training requirements remain unchanged."

He opened the door curtain and walked into the tent, and a sultry and damp breath instantly poured in front of him. The soldiers' quilts were neatly folded and could be touched with their hands, but they were still a bit wet.

Standing in the tent for a while, I felt like I was getting soaked. Seeing reporters wiping sweat, Luo Hong, deputy director of the Political Work Department of Mobile Third Detachment, said: "It has just rained today, and it is already cool time here. Once the sun is out, the tent is really like a sauna." Then, he pointed to the thermometer hanging at the door and said, "When it is hottest, this thermometer will display 50 degrees Celsius. Because its highest scale is 50 degrees Celsius."

Talking about the hardship of living in the tent, the soldier Deng Jun on the side also said: "When I first moved in, there was no electric fan. It was too hot at noon and there was no way to take a nap in the tent. We often joked that the bed in the tent was like a grill. Furnace. After finally getting through the night, the mosquitoes began to wreak havoc again."

When I first arrived, there were no living facilities in the entire camping station.

"Tough hardship can hone the will of the officers and soldiers, but the necessary improvement in living conditions can also increase the combat effectiveness of the troops. Therefore, after coming here, the officers and soldiers of the squadron will find ways to improve the living and training conditions here." Director of the Political Work Department of Mobile Third Detachment Li Jun said.

"The training camp is located in the wild, with inconvenient transportation and lack of water and electricity." Dai Dongjie said, "The officers and soldiers have improved the living conditions of the camp by themselves."

At first, the camp was full of primitive red land, which was muddy when it rained. When it is not raining, the wind blows and the sky is full of dust. In order to solve this problem, the squadron wanted to pave the pavement of the camp with stones.

There is a way to solve the problem, how can the paving stones be solved?

"We thought of collecting materials on the spot." Squadron leader Wang Xuehai pointed to the mountain outside the camp. "The squadron organizes soldiers to climb the mountain on weekends. When climbing the mountain, I ask everyone to pick up some pebbles of suitable size. This relaxes the body and mind. , I practiced my physical stamina, and solved the source of the stones. It’s a multitude of things in one fell swoop!"

In just one year, the camp was built from scratch, with necessary living facilities such as bathhouses and toilets, and even basketball courts, library rooms and other learning and exercise places. The tents were also equipped with heat insulation nets. Some of the officers and soldiers understand construction technology, some have worked as construction workers, and those who have no experience can do their best. In this way, they built a camp in this deep mountain forest.

"I didn't know how to build a barracks and a basketball court at first. But I worked hard and found some methods." Soldier Lai Yonghong said, "Looking at the camp I built by myself, I feel full of accomplishment. , Training is more vigorous!"

"We will practice as we fight"

A squadron of officers and soldiers are dealing with a task in a clearing hidden by the mountains. First, check the documents, identify the identity, and then conduct a security check, and then guide the personnel to enter the placement tent to rest and distribute living supplies. The officers and soldiers work skillfully and meticulously, and everything is so methodical.

Suddenly, several "thugs" sprang from the crowd, drew long knives from their bags, and attacked the armed police officers and soldiers on duty. This sudden danger shocked the reporters watching.

"The emergency response team is ready!" Yang Hulin, the squad leader of the first squadron, issued a command. Several soldiers armed with riot shields immediately stepped forward to block the knife cut by the "mob".

"Disperse, ready to shoot!" The command was issued, and the moment the shield hand drew away, several bullets shot out from behind them, and several "thugs" fell to the ground instantly.

It turned out that this was training for emergency handling of Mobile No. 1 Squadron. "In order to get closer to the actual combat, we didn't know in advance that there would be'thugs' today. But the usual excellent training allows us to cope with various emergencies." Yang Hulin said, "We are stationed in the field for training to simulate the life and combat environment in the wild. , Is to get close to actual combat. Therefore, we will practice as we fight as we fight!"

At the end of the day, the training of the squadron was impressive. After dinner, I thought that the officers and soldiers were going to rest, but I heard squadron leader Wang Xuehai say: "The weather is good today, and it is suitable for night training. Everyone should practice at night!"

Under the night starlight, I saw heavily armed officers and soldiers emerging from the tent and quickly rushing to gather in the predetermined area. According to the action plan, the whole brigade carried out training in an orderly manner. The first mobile squadron, which was tasked with sharp knives, encountered a small group of "enemies" as soon as it left the camp. Squadron leader Wang Xuehai gave the order and the officers and soldiers quickly formed a multi-channel battle formation, using night cover to quickly advance to meet the enemy and start a fierce exchange of fire. In just 10 minutes, Wang Xuehai issued more than 20 combat orders and successfully resisted the "enemy".

At two o'clock in the middle of the night, the "enemy army" adjusted its strategy and used false attacks on sentinels as bait. In fact, they sneaked into the camp from the weak point to carry out destruction. At a critical juncture, Dai Dongjie quickly adjusted his forces, strictly sealed the periphery, and conducted a dragnet search and investigation on the inner periphery. In the end, all the "enemy troops" that had penetrated into the area were captured and the danger was successfully turned away.

What a formidable, actual combat training!

"What we value more is the pennant sent by the people"

"In the tent camp, even if you don't see any other places, there is one place you must go!" Hearing Dai Dongjie's words, he followed him to a tent near the entrance of the camp.

This tent was twice as large as the others, and only when I walked in did I realize that it was the honor room of the squadron.

This honor room is different from the ordinary honor room. There are large and small medals and pennants hanging inside. Some are not originals, but scaled down photos.

The reporter couldn't help asking in his heart: Why not put the original thing?

As if seeing the reporter's doubts, Dai Dongjie grinned and said, "Because we have too many pennants. If we put the flags, the place will be twice as large, it won't fit." After that, Dai Dongjie scratched his head, his face revealed. With pride.

In 1979, due to their outstanding combat exploits, they were awarded the honorary title of "Steel Knife Company" by the Central Military Commission; in 1983, the first squad was awarded the title of "Brave and Fighting Squad" by the former Chengdu Military Region; in the same year, the seventh squad was awarded "Dare to Fight and Dare to Fight." title……

"Our squadron won the collective special class 2 times, the great power 2 times, the first class 2 times, the second class 2 times, the third class 32 times, and more than 200 heroes emerged..." Dai Dongjie pointed to the honor room. The shining pennants and shining medals were introduced like a few treasures, "But what we value more is the pennants given by the people."

In July 2014, the most serious mountain torrent and mudslide occurred in Shangjiang Township, Shangri-La County in 70 years. The squadron rushed to the front line of flood fighting and rescue as soon as possible to rescue the victims, dredge the mud and build their homes.

Lai Yonghong, who participated in this mission, recalled: “When we received the rescue order, my comrades and I were training at the shooting range of the training base. Before we had time to go back to the dormitory to get a change of clothes, we rushed to the disaster area with a backpack on our back. There was only one set of raincoats. When the clothes became damp, they changed into raincoats and continued to fight. On the fifth day, the rain was getting heavier and the sandbags that had been built became loose. At that time, the water had reached the chest. The comrades jumped into the water without saying a word. Inside, let me ride on his neck and drove the sandbags into the water. It started at 10 o’clock in the evening and worked until 2 o’clock in the middle of the night. The flooding was extremely urgent, and I felt like being washed away several times."

Later, when the squadron evacuated, the local folks held the pennants of "fighting floods and storms together, the military and civilians are in the same boat, and the military and civilians have a deep love for fish."

The whistle blew, and the soldiers finished their day of training and were about to rest. The rare bright moon in the mountains of western Yunnan shines in the camp, quiet and peaceful.

"Inherit the spirit of steel knives and strive to be the edge steel knives!" The oath of the "Steel Knives Company" once a day echoed in the camp. This is a zhengzheng oath made with blood and lives by generations of revolutionary soldiers, and it is the solemn promise of these frontier warriors in the new era to the party and the people.

Here, I feel perseverance and dedication (Reporter's Notes)

The sultry and humid climate in southwestern Yunnan makes it unbearable for people who have just arrived here. The reporter ate a meal in the camp tent, and his clothes were soaked.

Turning his head to look at the soldiers, they all looked complacent, talking and laughing. After more than 400 days of hard training in the jungle, the natural environment is no longer a challenge for them.

The training ground in the jungle always has some additional difficulties. Walking through the dense forest with the soldiers, the visibility is only a few meters in front of you. At noon, there was a raging heat wave in the air, and being in it was like entering a sauna. Not to mention mosquito bites, the reporter walked out of the camp, and the bags on his body were already countless...

But here, no one complains, no one complains tired. When training troops to prepare for war, we must deal with various emergencies. The perseverance and dedication of the soldiers make people admire and respect from the heart. The cherishment of honor by officers and soldiers is impressive. Meritorious medals and pennants presented by the masses demonstrate the pursuit of ideals and beliefs and the inheritance of the red gene.

When leaving the camp, a group of soldiers who had gone out for training happened to return by car. Seeing them sweaty but vigorous and high-spirited, the reporter felt the heroic fighting spirit of the powerful and powerful, the majestic strength of the strong army and the majestic strength of the army, and also deeply realized that the officers and soldiers were simple and unpretentious. Homeland feelings.
