Am I allowed to barbecue under any circumstances? This is the question that the lawyer of Europe 1 Roland Perez answers in his column on Saturday. In a garden or on a balcony, the barbecue can be very enjoyable for those who organize it but very annoying for those who undergo it in the surroundings! Neighboring neighbors, for example, could suffer from the smoke emitted by merguez! This summer practice, in fact, is very supervised.

Respect certain rules
By law, a barbecue done occasionally does not constitute a neighborhood disturbance. However, certain rules must be respected, some of which are written in the regulations of the condominium, the subdivision, the vacation home or even in the rental contract. Other rules emanate from the municipality in which one lives or from the prefecture. The latter may, in regions with a high risk of fire, outright prohibit barbecues.
Some restrictions apply to the types of barbecue, such as charcoal for example. There are days or times that are sometimes specified to authorize barbecues. However, there are many disputes between neighbors and the courts often agree with the plaintiffs, especially if the practice has been intensive and over long periods of time. The latter then complain about the smoke, ash fallout or blackened walls for example.
