Several regions have previously escaped the quarantine obligation, but now it is the first time that the people of Norrbotten can enter the country without isolating themselves.

In connection with the Finnish border being opened to nearby municipalities on Wednesday, Gunnar Selberg, center-right municipal councilor in Kiruna, told SVT Nyheter Norrbotten that he hoped for an opening to neighbors in the west while criticizing that Norrbotten was not yet allowed in.

Quarantine requirements raised

Previously, travelers from Västerbotten, Södermanland and Kalmar counties were also exempted from the requirement of a ten-day quarantine in Norway. Norwegian authorities set the limit for quarantine requirements for 20 newly confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants for 14 days.

The quarantine obligation for the county is lifted at midnight, the night before Saturday.
