"The Ministry of Finance of Russia considers it inexpedient to abolish the transport tax," the message says.
They explained that the transport tax is a regional tax, which largely forms the income of regional and local budgets.
“In addition, the transport tax, along with excise taxes on oil products, is one of the sources for the formation of road funds,” added the ministry.
The Ministry of Finance emphasizes that the transport tax shows a high collection rate.
Earlier, Deputy Andrei Baryshev submitted to the State Duma a draft law on the abolition of the transport tax from 2021.
Commenting on the initiative in an interview with FBA "Economics Today", the parliamentarian noted that this idea is justified by the situation amid the pandemic.
