Khalifa bin Zayed issues a law on decorations, medals and insignia at Abu Dhabi Police

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, issued Law No. 17 of 2020 regarding decorations, medals and insignia at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, to appreciate those who have done great and worthy deeds for the benefit of the public leadership or society, among the employees of the General Command and the military. And community members.

In accordance with the provisions of the law, medals are awarded by a decision of the Ruler upon the recommendation of the Commander-in-Chief and the approval of the Chairman of the Executive Council, and are considered the highest degree of honor and appreciation, while medals and badges of appreciation are awarded by a decision from the Commander in Chief based on the recommendation of the Director General of Abu Dhabi Police. The governor or whoever deputizes for him awards decorations, and the Commander-in-Chief or his designee awards medals and badges of appreciation.

The law defines four medals, which are: the Zayed Order for Security Excellence (of two layers), the Abu Dhabi Police Order (five classes), the Order of the Martyr (one class), and the Order of Legion (one class). The Zayed Medal for Security Excellence is considered the highest security medal, and it is awarded to a member of the General Command who performed distinguished services or deeds with all sincerity and dedication during his service, in a way that contributes to maintaining security.

The law specified 15 medals, and the Commander-in-Chief is entitled to award badges of appreciation to members of the General Command or to members of the community, whenever they have sufficient justifications to award them, according to the cases, controls and conditions that he specifies by his decision, and no financial reward shall be paid for them. Granting certificates, written patents, or other incentive benefits to a member of the General Command or other police, security, or military agencies in the country, if he presented remarkable achievements, or performed great security services during his service, or to any person from the community who was cooperating and sincere with the General Command to maintain the Public order and public morals in the emirate.

A distinctive mark shall be placed on each of the medal and medal and their emblems upon repeated awards, in the manner specified by the executive regulations of this law.

It is permissible to award any of the medals, medals and badges of appreciation referred to in this law to any deceased after the date of his death, and in this case it is given to his legal heirs.

Medals, medals, badges, and the innocence of each of them stipulated in this law and its executive regulations remain in the possession of the heirs of the grantee - within his estate - by way of memorial, and none of them has the right to carry them, and their holders or their heirs may not dispose of them, nor may they be seized.

The law specified 4 medals awarded by decision of the governor and 15 medals awarded by decision of the Commander in Chief.
