In mid-March, Blekinge Hospital was forced to suspend all planned surgical operations due to the corona pandemic and due to a lack of protective equipment, surgical supplies and medicines.

Blekinge Hospital is now reopening all operating wards. This means that all current patients, even those over the age of 70, will be called for surgery according to medical priorities and place on the waiting list.

- Recommendations still apply to keep your distance and that you should stay at home if you have cold symptoms, says Birgitta Friberg, head of health and medical care in the Blekinge Region.

The Blekinge region also announces that Blekinge Hospital has a shortage of nurses at the hospital and that the situation is therefore uncertain before the autumn.
