The Control and Control Center for Coronavirus Control in Dubai issued the first update of laboratory examination standards for Covid-19 virus, with the aim of ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality of testing services in health facilities licensed by the Dubai Health Authority, and ensuring that patients who have been tested receive reliable results, and test results are rejected from Laboratories not approved by the authority.

The center has identified 17 laboratories in Dubai to conduct tests for Covid-19.

Regarding antibody tests, the Center called on health facilities to refrain from using the rapid test for Corona, referring to the mobile test that allows the patient to conduct these types of tests at his home, or anywhere, such as a pregnancy test.

And he called on health facilities and clinical laboratories to conduct a serological antibody test as indicated in the recommendations of the serological test for Coronavirus disease, published by the National Testing Committee, without obtaining prior approval from the Health Authority, adding that «the results of the serological test do not need to be entered into immunity, and must "The disclaimer is mentioned at the end of patient reports for both negative and positive results, and serology tests for Coronavirus should not be used."

The center pointed out that the services of Covid-19 testing are limited to laboratories of the Health Authority, in addition to clinical laboratories in hospitals, and independent clinical laboratories, after obtaining the approval of the authority.

The center stated that laboratories and health care facilities requesting approval must comply with the requirements of the authority's examination, register in the Hanaa platform and obtain the necessary training, integrate the clinical laboratory information system with the Hasana platform, and that all health facilities in the emirate ensure the existence of a contract with the clinical laboratories approved by the authority.

On the criteria for conducting the test, the center clarified that the Covid-19 test should only be requested by a doctor licensed by the authority, in accordance with the national clinical guidelines and based on the priority test criteria, and the authority and the center must update the test standards regularly.

For suspected COVID-19 cases, the treating physician must give clear and comprehensive instructions to the patient regarding self-quarantine so that the results are reported.

The center indicated that the treating physician has the responsibility to inform patients of the test result and provide the necessary information and guidance based on national guidelines, and all health facilities must adhere to the fixed service price for the Covid-19 test, which is 370 dirhams (including value added tax), and refrain from adding any additional fees. To deliver the test result, including - but not limited to - telephone, calling, texting, VIP or expediting services.
