The epicenter was at 100.91 degrees east longitude and 4.5 degrees south latitude. The focal depth is 10 kilometers. Six minutes later, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in the sea area 78 kilometers northwest of Bengkulu City. The epicenter was 101.56 degrees east longitude and 3.74 degrees south latitude, with a focal depth of 11 kilometers.
