The Porto Cervo outbreak
A twenty-year-old from the north of the capital is hospitalized at the Spallanzani Hospital in Rome with Covid pneumonia after having been in Sardinia for a week and having frequented intensively with famous local friends in Porto Cervo. Three boys who were spending their holidays at Circeo were also in isolation at Spallanzani. At the moment, more than twenty young people have returned from Sardinia and tested positive for Coronavirus. Most developed symptoms such as lack of smell and taste, low-grade fever, fatigue. They are all in isolation at home, followed by the family doctor or by private specialists because, explains a mother, "in the public it was impossible to find someone in the days around August 15th to treat my son and prescribe medicine".

The young hospitalized at Spallanzani, friends who were with her on vacation reported, arrived in Sardinia on 5 August and with her group of friends spent the first five evenings attending the most fashionable clubs in Porto Cervo until late at night. . On 9 August she moved to Porto Rotondo at the Country Club for the evening event with three Roman DJs in which hundreds of young people took part, dozens of them from Rome, many of whom subsequently tested positive. On August 13, the young woman returned to Rome and moved to Circeo, but at that point the first messages were already beginning to circulate among friends: they warned that some of them were positive for Sars-Cov2. Once the swab was done, the girl also tested positive. Held for 12 hours for observation at the Latina Hospital, she was then transferred to Spallanzani where she is currently being treated with a cocktail of drugs for interstitial pneumonia.
