Former Israeli Communications Minister Ayoub Kara said that the agreement with the UAE was ready a year ago, but its announcement was postponed due to the internal political situation in Israel, referring to the ruling crisis that led to re-elections 3 times in a row.

Kara added in a tweet on Twitter that the agreement is not compensation for the annexation plan, because President Trump's plan spoke in advance of regional peace and defense between Israel and the Saudi-Emirati alliance, including the annexation plan in the West Bank.

He said that this plan crystallized with Trump taking office, and that it was also discussed during the era of former President Barack Obama, who did not like it, according to Kara.

Kara added that the Europeans were not in a hurry to adopt the potential cooperation between Israel and the Gulf states, adding that he had no doubt that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be interested in implementing the annexation plan before the next elections, and that the days would prove that.

He previously visited the UAE in October 2018, when he was Minister of Communications, and participated in the telecommunications conference held in Dubai, and delivered a speech.

Last Thursday, the UAE and Israel announced an official normalization of relations between them, and their intention to sign cooperation agreements in several areas.

According to a joint statement, US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan agreed by phone to fully normalize relations between Israel and the UAE.

The announcement by the UAE and Israel of the normalization of relations between them was nothing but the culmination of successive overt and secret introductions in recent years for cooperation and coordination between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv in the political and military fields, as well as various forms of sports and cultural normalization and others.
