The parties assessed the situation in the east of Ukraine and in the Azov-Black Sea region, and also discussed "ways to respond to emerging threats."

“We also discussed the state and prospects for the implementation of the tasks of defense reform, issues of Euro-Atlantic integration in the context of maximizing the use of new instruments of defense and military cooperation, which Ukraine received with the acquisition of NATO partner status with expanded capabilities,” Taran said.

According to him, during the talks, the priorities of military cooperation between the two countries were identified. Taran added that "a key issue is the development of capabilities and an increase in the combat potential of the Ukrainian Navy with the participation of Great Britain."

Wallace had earlier arrived in Kiev on an official visit.
