Dispatched a second member of a cargo ship grounding international emergency response team at 4:19 on August 19

On the 19th, the government will dispatch a second team of experts from the Japan Emergency Relief Team to the site after a cargo ship chartered by Mitsui OSK Lines stranded offshore in Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean.

At the request of the Mauritius government, a total of seven people will be dispatched, including researchers from the National Institute for Environmental Studies and staff from the Ministry of the Environment.

The seven people are planning to carry out support activities such as understanding the effects of the oil spilled from the ship on the ecosystem.

The government dispatched a team of experts following the dispatch of six Coast Guard and other officials on the 10th of this month and hopes to continue contributing to the restoration of the environment and prevention of marine pollution in Mauritius.
