On August 15, the Defense Ministry repatriated 25 Air Force personnel stationed in the Marfil detachment , in Dakar ( Senegal ), after testing positive for Covid-19.

Given the presentation of mild symptoms by some of its members, the entire contingent underwent PCR tests and 25 of them were positive. All of them with asymptomatic or mild character.

According to the health protocols established in the Armed Forces, those affected remained in quarantine until their evacuation to Spain. Quarantine that 15 of them will end up at the Getafe Air Base (Madrid) and the remaining 10 at Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid).

Only two of those affected, due to symptoms, were admitted to the Gómez Ulla Hospital , but they have already been discharged. The rest of the contingent, although it gave a negative result in the tests, is kept in quarantine as a preventive measure and with all the protection and security measures established to stop the infections.

Next week a flight from Spain to Dakar is planned to transfer the military personnel who must continue in the mission, once the established quarantine period has concluded and the tests performed on them negative.

The Marfil detachment , located at the Aérienne Senghor Base in Dakar, has about 65 soldiers. Its main task is, under control
