The Baxian Double-line Extra Large Bridge is located in Chengjiang Town, Duan County, Guangxi. The owner is Yungui Railway Guangxi Co., Ltd., which was constructed by China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau. The total length of the bridge is 7.29 kilometers. It requires the construction of 1,291 bored piles, 225 piers, and 224 box beams. It is the second longest extra-long bridge in the Guangxi section of the Guinan high-speed railway. The location of the bridge is a typical karst karst area, and there are a large number of karst caves and cavities developed in the form of beads. Affected by the extreme conditions of overly hard and overly soft geology in karst areas, the construction is prone to problems such as hole collapse, slurry leakage, stuck drill, and buried drill, which brings huge challenges to the progress of the project.

Zhang Zhiguo, the project manager of the Guinan High-speed Railway Project Department of the China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau, said in an interview that during the construction of the pile foundation of the bridge, a cave with a depth of 54.4 meters was encountered. In the construction method of pile foundation, a large steel protective tube is set in the cavern. After filling the protective tube with concrete, the pile foundation construction operation is continued on the protective tube, which solves the above-mentioned problems.

Zhang Zhiguo said that the two bid sections of the Guinan High-speed Railway undertaken by the China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau are all located in Duan County, Guangxi. The county is a county in Guangxi that has been severely affected by the new crown epidemic. During the epidemic, the movement of people is very strict. Construction of the bid section undertaken by the China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau started one month later than other bid sections.

Zhang Zhiguo said that after the resumption of work and production, in order to solve the problem of lagging construction progress affected by the epidemic, China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau quickly made up for the delayed progress of the epidemic by optimizing the construction plan and organizing labor competitions. With the joint efforts of all the staff involved in the construction, the erection date of the box girder of the Baxian Double-Line Bridge was completed 10 days earlier than the scheduled construction period.
