Stem cell research centers in the UAE and Israel sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in combating Corona

The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with (Pluristem Therapeutics Inc.), in preparation for cooperation in the field of research and development related to regenerative medicine services and products, including those that can be used in the fight against the "Covid-19" pandemic.

The memorandum, which brings together two emerging poles in the field of stem cells, was signed by representatives of the Emirati and Israeli parties in a ceremony held remotely.

The cooperation aims to benefit from the areas of expertise of both Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center and Pluristem Company in cellular therapies to provide regenerative medicine whose benefit is not limited to the citizens of the two countries only, but also benefits humanity as a whole.

Fatima Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program in Abu Dhabi, said: “The UAE has been keen on inclusiveness in finding solutions to global challenges, combining different competencies that come from various countries. The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center has followed the same approach, as is evident in the diversity of experiences. Among my colleagues and our international partners ».

For his part, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center, Dr. Yendri Ventura, said: “Pluristem has proven its leadership in the field of stem cells, and we look forward to working with its team and cooperating in research and development.”

It is noteworthy that both Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center and (Pluristem) Company have developed innovative products that have proven to be safe and effective in treating infections with the "Covid-19" virus. Which enables the provision of experimental drugs to people not participating in clinical trials, in Israel and the United States, and it is currently conducting phase two trials in the European Union and the United States. While the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center treated those infected with the emerging coronavirus with its patented and approved product, UAECell19, which succeeded in achieving clinical improvement in half the expected time and in reducing the hospitalization period by a quarter compared to patients who received conventional treatment.
