During the meeting, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, reviewed a comprehensive action plan that focuses on employing future opportunities, providing tools and infrastructure to support the leadership of the UAE in anticipating and preparing for global changes.

He said, “The UAE government is a global leader in the field of digital economy, whose importance and pivotal role is its ability to provide new jobs and job opportunities, increase economic and investment opportunities, and its great contribution to enhancing economic diversity and supporting the comprehensive economic development process, in a way that contributes to the advancement of the UAE’s position. The leader in all indicators of global competitiveness ».

He pointed out that the digital economy includes all economic activities and government services based on the use of digital technology, and the adoption of digital transformation, especially in the areas of e-commerce, digital currencies, financial platforms, digitization of assets, communication services networks, digital products, software technologies and cloud computing.

He added that «the digital economy contributed 4.3% of the UAE’s gross domestic product last year, and will have a larger share in the coming years, stressing that the digital economy sector represents one of the most prominent enablers for digitizing services, businesses, markets and major sectors in the UAE, and in support of its leadership in Region and the world.

He explained that the future work plans for the digital economy sector will focus on developing various aspects related to the financial cooperation economy, the free work economy, digital markets, the sharing economy, the digital content economy, and the data and information economy.

The scholars referred to the "remote work" file, which was attached to the new structure of the post-"Covid-19 government system", as part of the artificial intelligence file. He said, "It is important to employ remote work applications to achieve the leadership's vision by enhancing flexibility in governance, developing infrastructure to enhance levels of productivity, efficiency and performance of employees and workers in government and private sectors, and keeping pace with changes in the nature of jobs and labor markets."

He reviewed the most prominent tasks and future goals of remote work applications, which are represented in reducing the institutional costs of government and private agencies, providing job opportunities for existing talents away from workplaces, improving the level of government and private services, and providing them around the clock, in addition to increasing employee productivity, by reducing time Transportation to and from the workplace.

He explained that the UAE has achieved a successful experience in the rapid and flexible transition to work remotely, during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the employment of advanced technology and modern communication systems to facilitate work away from offices.
