Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has said he will take the lead if the effectiveness of the Corona 19 vaccine developed by Russia is proven.

President Lopez Obrador said at a press conference on the morning of the 17th local time, "If we look at the results of the Russian vaccine and find that it works, we will contact the Russian side immediately."

He added, "I'll be the first to get rid of doubts about the importance of (vaccination)," he added. "But you have to watch what happens and make sure that it works and everyone can be right."

The Russian government announced on the 11th that it has developed the world's first COVID-19 vaccine'Sputnik V'.

However, since it has not undergone phase 3 clinical trials, there are doubts about the stability of the vaccine both inside and outside Russia.

However, President Lopez Obrador said, "There should be no ideology in this important matter. Health comes first." He said that if the US, Russia or China develop an effective vaccine, they will contact the leaders of both countries directly to secure the vaccine.

With 56,000 COVID-19 deaths, Mexico, the third-largest country in the world after the United States and Brazil, is struggling to keep up in the race to secure the COVID-19 vaccine.

Mexico has decided to carry out phase 3 clinical trials of four corona19 vaccines being developed by pharmaceutical companies such as the United States and China, and to produce a supply of vaccines in Central and South America with AstraZeneca and Oxford University in the UK with Argentina.
