According to Malaysia's "Sin Chew Daily" report, on the 17th, the Malaysian High Court ruled that a teenager who was charged with murder due to arson that caused 23 deaths was guilty, but he was under 18 years of age. Therefore, he was ordered by the judge to be detained and waited for the head of state to decide his imprisonment conditions.

  According to reports, the 19-year-old defendant faces 23 murders. The High Court of Malaysia convicted him on the 17th for failing to arouse reasonable suspicion by the defense.

  The judge pointed out that after listening to the evidence presented by the prosecution and defense, it was discovered that the teenager involved deliberately caused death.

  At the same time, the judge also stated that since the juvenile was under 18 years of age at the time of the crime, the head of state will decide the juvenile’s imprisonment conditions in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

  According to reports, the teenager was suspected of setting fire to the religious school in Dato Kramat in the early morning of September 14, 2017 local time, causing the death of 23 teachers and students. The case began on May 30, 2018. The court convicted the juvenile on January 28, 2020, and ordered him to defend himself. Another defendant of the same age was acquitted.
