The incident occurred in Arvika. The woman had just parked the car and when she closed the door on the driver's side, the car locked automatically. Left in the car was the handbag with her car keys and her baby.
A police patrol was on site after about 20 minutes. It was around 30 degrees outside and the police then decided to smash a window on the car to get the child out.
According to the police, ambulance personnel have checked the child who is said to be well and no crime is suspected in connection with the incident.
