Chen Yihan, deputy dean of Shanghai Oriental Hospital, said: “The establishment of the Specialty Alliance can help the joint construction of specialties and promote regional construction. The complementary advantages and division of labor between different levels of medical institutions will promote the sinking of high-quality medical resources and improve the incidence of major diseases. Treatment capabilities and long-term home management of chronic diseases benefit the health of the people in the Yangtze River Delta while reducing the social burden."

It is reported that the Yangtze River Delta region is economically developed and active. Shanghai and Jiangsu have entered a deeply aging society, while Zhejiang and Anhui are about to enter a deeply aging society. They are areas with a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases and a large patient population. It is understood that in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, such as atrial fibrillation and heart failure, innovative technologies continue to appear, but the treatment levels of different hospitals and doctors are uneven. In grassroots hospitals, low awareness of diseases, low screening rates, low diagnosis rates, treatment rates to be improved, insufficient penetration of new technologies, and long-term irregular management still exist.

Liu Zhongmin, Dean of Shanghai Oriental Hospital, said: “It is urgent for the public to establish a specialist alliance for subjects with high health hazards and many medical needs, and to adopt the medical consortium model to speed up graded diagnosis and treatment. As the lead unit of this alliance, Oriental Hospital will do everything possible. The power of the hospital provides a platform for mutual exchange of disciplines to help member units improve the level of medical services, so that people in many parts of the Yangtze River Delta can receive standardized treatment at their homes, and critically ill patients can be referred through smooth channels."

Ge Junbo, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the Department of Cardiology, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, also said: "The establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Heart and Lung Rescue Alliance is a useful attempt for cardiovascular specialists.
