The city of Ataq - the administrative center of the Yemeni governorate of Shabwa - witnessed a mass rally and rally in support of the Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the legitimate government, and a rejection of monopolizing popular representation in the southern governorates of the UAE-backed Transitional Council, and the participants expressed their condemnation of normalization with the Israeli occupation.

The statement - issued by the event organized by the Southern National Coalition - rejected what it called false wills that claim tutelage and monopolize popular representation, stressing that legitimacy supported by popular will and supported by international decisions is the expression of the people's aspirations.

In their statement, the participants pointed to the public's adherence to their right to fair representation in the Riyadh consultations related to the formation of the new government, calling for Shabwah to pay special attention to providing services and infrastructure projects, and to restarting the Balhaf natural gas facility.

At the end of last July, the Saudi-led Arab coalition announced a mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, including the transitional council’s abandonment of the Autonomous Administration, the formation of a government of equal competencies between the south and the north, the departure of the military forces from Aden, and the separation of the two parties ’forces in Abyan and returning them to their previous positions.

And before that, in August 2019, forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council took control of brigades and camps belonging to the legitimate government, after battles between the two parties that ended in controlling the presidential palace, which the Yemeni government considered a "complete coup" against the legitimacy in the interim capital, Aden, calling for a withdrawal Transitional forces before any dialogue.

In another context, the statement expressed its condemnation and incrimination of all measures of normalization with the Israeli entity, considering that as an aggression against the Palestinian people and targeting the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the consciousness and conscience of the nation.

The leader of the Southern Resistance, Adel Al-Hasani published a video showing Yemeni citizens burning the flag of the Israeli occupation and the United Arab Emirates, and raising the flag of Palestine.

The Southern Transitional Council considered the normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel a "brave decision."
