16 August 2020The videoconference called by the Minister of Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia, is underway to take stock - among other things - on the discotheque issue. The ministers of health, Roberto Speranza and of economic development, Stefano Patuanelli are also connected to the government. Among the presidents of the Regions, there are Stefano Bonaccini (Emilia Romagna), Luca Zaia (Veneto), Alberto Cirio (Piedmont), Donato Toma (Molise), Giovanni Toti (Liguria) and Massimiliano Fedriga (Friuli Venezia Giulia). The presidents of Puglia and Abruzzo, Michele Emiliano and Marco Marsilio are also connected.

The Regions will have to comply with the Prime Ministerial Decree of 7 August which states: "activities that take place in dance halls and discos and similar venues, outdoors or indoors, remain suspended". This - as far as we know - the position that will be supported by the members of the Executive at the meeting. In particular, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, could present a provision that explicitly prohibits the Regions from derogating from the dpcm. Even the Minister of Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia, in recent days had hypothesized the "closure after August in all Regions". And the daily data of the contagions in continuous growth push towards the stop to the dance.

Codacons denounces the Government, 'it has not closed nightclubs'
Codacons will present a formal complaint tomorrow against the Italian Government and the presidents of the Regions for competing in a culpable epidemic and attack on public health, in relation to the failure to close the discos. "Closing the discos now when hundreds of evenings were organized throughout Italy between July and August means closing the barn when the oxen have already escaped", says the president of Codacons, Carlo Rienzi.

Managers, with 4 billion turnover stops at risk
With the new stop on the horizon for discos, "four billion euros are at risk". This is the annual turnover of these establishments in Italy according to the estimates of the Silb (the Italian dance club union). "To date, only 10% of the approximately 3,500 premises have reopened and is this creating problems? From tomorrow there will be more risk with illegal activity", Gianni Indino, president of SilbEmilia-Romagna, told ANSA. From the Government, he adds, "so far not a single euro has arrived: now we will ask for compensation, including 4% VAT and Cig from our workers".
