Amnesty International (Amnesty) said that the agreement between the UAE and Israel does not include the complete abandonment by Israel of its plans to annex more of the occupied West Bank.
Amnesty added that Israel continues to build illegal settlements and systematically violates Palestinian human rights.
Amnesty emphasized that no diplomatic agreement can change the legal duties of Israel as an occupying power, nor deprive the Palestinians of their rights and protections guaranteed by international law.
The organization stressed that any process aimed at a just and lasting peace should include the removal of settlements, the achievement of justice, and compensation for victims of Israeli crimes under international law.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement between the UAE and Israel, describing it as a historic agreement and tremendous progress. The UAE said that its normalization step comes to stop the Israeli annexation of lands in the West Bank, but Israel said that stopping this step is only temporary.
