“His Holiness the Patriarch these days prays for an early end to the public confrontation in the Republic of Belarus, the establishment of peace and trust, the healing of all victims,” Vladimir Legoyda, chairman of the synodal department of the Moscow Patriarchate for relations between the Church and society and the media, wrote in Telegram.

According to him, the patriarch hopes that "the authorities and all healthy social forces" will enter into dialogue to overcome the "tension that has arisen."

Earlier, Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavsky, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, appealed to the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with an appeal to stop the violence.
