He noted that the organization is "deeply concerned about reports and allegations of torture and ill-treatment of detainees, including young people and journalists."

“We also noted the statement with words of regret from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus regarding the use of force and expect that these incidents and complaints will be thoroughly investigated,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying during a press conference.

At the same time, the UN welcomed the release of some of the detainees and urged to continue these steps.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Yuri Karaev took responsibility for the injuries of random people at the protests and apologized.

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko instructed to investigate all the facts of detentions during the mass protests.

He also asked security officials to be softer towards the protesters.
