Russia calls on all parties in Lebanon to unite to resolve the crisis
Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, August 13 (Reporter Leo) Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova said on the 13th that Russia calls on all parties in Lebanon to unite and work together to resolve the crisis.
Zakharova said at a regular press conference that day that Lebanon’s current political situation is the country’s internal affairs, and Russia has always supported Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. She said that Russia calls on all parties in Lebanon to unite, work together to resolve the serious consequences of the Beirut port area explosion and resolve the crisis, and take measures to eliminate tension and avoid violence to prevent the situation from further deterioration.
Zakharova said that the Russian side hopes that all parties in Lebanon will resolve complex issues on the domestic political agenda through dialogue and within the legal framework, and reach a broad consensus without external interference.
A violent explosion occurred in the port area of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the evening of the 4th of this month. Lebanese Prime Minister Diab announced the collective resignation of the government on the 10th in response to the people's calls for change.
