The departure of Barcelona coach Quique Setien became a foregone conclusion after the team's historic heavy 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich, but instead of resigning before the dismissal he declared after the match that the future would be better.

"We have to analyze what happened, we could not deal with a team that was very good and deserved to win," Setien said in statements to "beIN Sports" after the sweeping defeat.

"The important thing is not my future, but for Barcelona to regain its position. The players are frustrated and disappointed after this heavy loss," he added.

Setien did not indicate any failure by him or his players, saying, "We have given everything in our power, and we ask the public to accept our apologies, and in any case the future will be better."

Fans are looking forward to Barcelona announcing the dismissal of Setien, who lost everything under his leadership this season, beginning with the Spanish League title and the end of Bayern Munich's scandalous exit from the Champions League quarter-finals.
