She told Emirates Today that the Child Protection Department dealt during the Corona pandemic with a number of cases and reports received regarding violence against children. From February to July, they reached 648 cases, pointing to a relative increase in the reports received at the beginning of this year. And it decreased during the second quarter of the year, as the number of cases from the beginning of this year until the end of last July reached 776 cases, while the administration dealt with 1,109 cases in the same period last year.

Al-Rifai pointed out that under the circumstances of the "Covid-19" pandemic, the administration receives reports via the toll-free line 800700 or via e-mail or the WhatsApp service through the call center. The report is classified as urgent or not urgent, and is dealt with according to the degree. Priority through the "urgent intervention" and "response" work teams, which includes protection specialists who have the status of judicial control, and to achieve a security, social and medical response for the child, in coordination with the concerned authorities.
