In Paris, wearing a mask has become compulsory in certain streets, such as rue Daguerre and rue Raymond Losserand, in the 14th arrondissement. But the measures taken by the Prefect of Police and Mayor Anne Hidalgo are controversial. And many passers-by do not follow the instructions.

“  It's true that we have to wear it here. I completely forgot that we had to wear it. »Rue Daguerre, wearing a mask is compulsory. However, many passers-by have their faces uncovered. The reason ? No signage to indicate it.

Marie Isabelle has been wearing her mask for only a few minutes: “  We were called by someone in the street who told us 'we must put on the mask,' she says. So we downloaded the map to see where it was mandatory and where it was not. So we didn't know. We referred to what is indicated on the site of the city of Paris. "

But this obligation is not unanimous in the capital. “  It's ridiculous, I don't see the point of it actually,”  comments Robin, a business school student. For once it's done everywhere or it's done nowhere. It would have been smarter to force him everywhere. It's ridiculous that you only have to put it in some streets and not in others. "

Other passers-by, more worried, want the order to be extended in the other streets of the capital. Like Amandine, who lives on rue Raymond Losserand.

“  It's a very good thing, ” she says. It's super important to protect yourself and protect others. You must not be selfish. There are a lot of people I see on the street who don't wear it. Here, it's a shopping area, so I think it's completely normal and I think it should be mandatory everywhere in fact . "

Failure to wear a mask is punishable by a fine of 135 euros for pedestrians. Bike or scooter riders are not concerned.
