The Lebanese Parliament announced today, Thursday, that it had accepted the resignation of 7 deputies, while Representative Marwan Hamadeh retracted his resignation.

The deputies who resigned from the Lebanese Parliament were the representatives of the Lebanese "Kataeb" bloc, Sami Gemayel, Nadim Gemayel, Elias Hanakish, Representative Paulette Yacoubian, Representative Michel Moawad, Representative Naama Afram, and a member of the "Democratic Gathering" Henry Helou.

On the other hand, a member of the "Democratic Meeting" MP Bilal Abdullah announced that Representative Marwan Hamadeh had retracted his resignation, and that he was sick and could not attend. However, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri demanded that he attend the session to withdraw his resignation.

Lebanese security forces deployed massively in the capital Beirut today, Thursday, to prevent protesters from reaching a conference center in which members of Parliament began to meet for the first time since the devastating explosion that killed 172 people last week, to discuss declaring a state of emergency in Beirut.
