Shortly after the fire at Alnarp on Wednesday, a 27-year-old man was arrested in Lund. He was arrested and is now suspected of arson and the police are investigating whether he can also be held responsible for several of the fires that have recently taken place in Lund and the surrounding area.

In 2012, he was suspected of several fires in Lomma, but was released for lack of evidence.

- Prosecuting a murderer is the most difficult thing there is because the evidence burns away, says Ewa-Gun Westford, press spokesperson for the police.

Long way to go

Ewa-Gun Westford believes that there is a long way to go before a conviction is handed down.

- Now we have a huge job ahead of us at the fire site.

Technicians and police dogs will now investigate the site in Alnarp.

- It is a rocky and long road with a big uphill to reach a prosecution, says Ewa-Gun Westford.
